![]() ![]() I charge AA/AAA/18650s all on the same charger anyways so it's kind of nice to just swap batteries as they're needed. I actually prefer having a swappable batteries anyways + the battery life is about 4.5x the old one or ~60-70 hours per charge. Old internal battery was removed and wires ran out the headset to the cell holder. This was done out of necessity after the USB charging port broke. The battery holder ziptied to the headband is for a rechargeable 18650 battery cell. Took a couple of trial and error attempts to get them to hold long-term. Here's the frankensteined Stealth 400s, as promised:īroken headbands were braced up with steel shims and wrapped in tape. Just trying to stick with what I know and like. I know this is a total "beggars can't be choosers" sort of thing, but I'd like to explore the option of just getting a pair of 420s off of eBay before breaking down and going with either of those 2. Not a fan of the earcup padding/shape, do not like the mic boom at all and don't like where the buttons and sliders are located. The only ones I have are 3 pole and I'm just not going to bother finding out for sure since the lack of volume dials is a dealbreaker to me anyways.Īnd I've tried the Stealth 600/700 at the TB display at Walmart. Problem with that is neither volume slider works and I'm not sure if you can even use them to chat unless they're plugged in with a 4 pole 3.5mm Aux cable. I was also able to get them to "work" with the Series X by plugging them into the 3.5mm port on the controller. ![]() Only thing I lose on PC is the chat and headset volume are combined onto one of the dials, but that's not a real big deal there because of Discord. I've been able to use the 400s on my PC with almost near total functionality. The 420X uses a similar transmitter, but doesn't use an optical cable) (Stealth 400 used a USB wireless transmitter and an optical cable going to the back of the PS4. They're not on the official support list of the Turtle Beach website, but they also don't use the optical port like some other PS4/Xbox wireless headsets did. (it's a PITA going into party chat and trying to mix headset volume, chat volume and game volume all at the same time, which is the problem I'm having with some old MS-brand Xbox One headset I was given a few years ago) Not pretty, but they honestly work better now than they did when I first got them)īut is there any reason the 420x wouldn't work on a Series X? Talking full wireless support with (hopefully) no 3.5mm plugged into the controller, with the volume sliders for headset & chat functioning so I can easily mix game and party chat volume. (will post a pic of my frankensteined 400s at the end of the post.they're kind of a sight to behold. Mainly because they're almost exactly the same as the 400s that I'm so used to.and just kind of grown attached to that headset too, partly because of their overall functionality/comfortability and partly because of the time I put into keeping the things going despite the headbands and USB charge port breaking. Looking to possibly pick a pair of these up on eBay to replace the Stealth 400s I used on PS4/PC the past 5-6 years. ![]()
